Collectord is the same agent in Monitoring Kubernetes, OpenShift, Docker, Linux and macOS, and in the ElasticSearch, OpenSearch and syslog forwarding products. The pages in this section cover the features that work the same in all of them. Monitoring Windows Containers runs a Collectord release of its own and is not covered here. Each product’s own pages say how to set them in that product: a Helm value, a configuration file, an annotation or a container label.
- Reduce log volume - group repeated lines, fold storms of alike lines, and find the log patterns that cost the most.
- Scripted inputs - run your own scripts on an interval and send what they print.
- Field names and searching - underscore or dotted field names, and searches that find both.
- Log levels and diagnostics - raise one subsystem’s log level, verify, diag bundles, the flight recorder and the shutdown timeout.
