Search for AWS

Support

Search for AWS is built and supported by Outcold Solutions. This page covers how to reach us and what to include so we can help quickly.

Get help

Email support@outcoldsolutions.com, or follow How to submit a support request in the FAQ. Beta installations are supported the same way: if you hit a wall, reach out - finding those is what the beta is for.

What to include

A good report gets to a fix faster. Please include:

  • The app version (shown on the About page and in the release history) and your Splunk version, and whether it is Splunk Cloud. On a self-managed search head the app’s own binary says exactly what was built: $SPLUNK_HOME/etc/apps/os_aws_search/bin/platform/<os>_<arch>/aws_search version prints the version, the build date and the source revision.
  • The exact SPL you ran and the full error message, or the dashboard and panel that misbehaves.
  • The relevant logs (see below).
  • The account registration, with credentials redacted - the credential type, the default and allowed regions, and any endpoint override.

Collect logs

Raise the log level to debug on the Setup page’s Settings tab while you reproduce the issue. On a self-managed search head, each search writes its own aws_search.log in the search’s dispatch directory; everywhere, the job’s search.log from the Job Inspector captures the command’s errors, and the setup handlers and cache sweeper log to _internal:

index=_internal aws_search

Troubleshooting walks through the common failures and where to look.

Support terms

Search for AWS is in beta and is not yet on the Pricing page. The app is provided under the license agreement; pricing is published when the app leaves beta, and until then sales@outcoldsolutions.com answers the question.
